Getting Started

Start in the email library

Open MailWell from the Shopify admin and start from the email library. Create a blank email or open an existing project.

Choose products and describe the campaign

Select products from the Shopify catalog context, then describe the campaign goal, audience, offer, tone, and creative direction.

Generate and review the plan

MailWell can plan the email before building the final design. Review the subject line direction, preview text direction, sections, assumptions, and product strategy.

Edit the email

Use the studio to adjust section copy, calls to action, product references, HTML sections, text styling, and overall email direction.

Export email-safe HTML

Copy raw email-safe HTML with QA warnings, then paste it into the email tool your team already uses.

Publish to Klaviyo

Connect a Klaviyo private API key with template permissions, then publish the current design as a custom HTML template.

Klaviyo Setup

To publish templates to Klaviyo, open MailWell settings, enter a Klaviyo private API key with template read and write permissions, and save the connection. MailWell encrypts the key before storage and uses it only when you publish a template.

Best Practices

  • Keep prompts focused on the campaign goal, product story, offer, and tone.
  • Use merchant-owned product images and reference material.
  • Review QA warnings before copying HTML into an email platform.
  • Avoid adding private customer data to briefs, prompts, or uploaded references.
